Silent migraines are a chronic illnesses which it is an uncommon name for it. Many people are used to hear of say a scientific name in referring to diseases. The names of migraine types give a clue to its nature, source or cause. Silent migraine name sound to be not associated with something so it is a curious name.

Silent migraines are named also as ocular migraines, visual migraines, eye migraines and acephalgic migraines. It is referring to migraine type, which is without a headache and with aura. To Understand silent migraine, you need to know the stages or phases of migraine. The typical migraine stages are:

Prodrome which it is initial migraine stage, and it is considering migraine warning, which has many symptoms such as food carvings, thirst, diarrhea, confusion and irritability.

Aura which is the second migraine stage, and it has visual disturbance symptoms. Arising many physical manifestations may be occurred. It includes difficulties in moving, numbness sensation, tingling sensations and slurred speech. The pain or headache proceeds after the aura stage and it may last for three days! The last stage occurs after headache which the patients feel tired for 24 hours. Migraines have many types and forms, some of them don’t go through all that phases. Many of them occur without pain and other without aura. Silent migraine symptoms haven’t pain!.

Silent migraine is like other types of migraine according to its own symptoms. Silent migraine symptoms are euphoria feeling, irritability, confusion, chills, urination increasing, fatigue, thirst, food cravings, appetite loss, vomiting, nausea ,diarrhea and the aura. Silent migraine aura is a visual disturbance which the migraine sufferers see that blind spots, dots, flashing lights, jagged or wavy lines. Silent migraine patient may go through distortions in tingling sensation , numbness, taste, sell and sounds. The sufferer may also has many speech difficulties.

Researchers found that silent migraine is resulted from the abnormal activities of the brain nerve cell. The migraine aura is caused by overstimulation of the nerve cells’ activity. The activity reduction affects the hearing and sensation as it move from visual area to other parts across the brain. Triggers which they are certain substances or events can start the chain reactions. Silent migraine triggers are noises, loud, bright lights, hormonal changes, certain foods, weather changes, alcohol, caffeine, skipped meals, inadequate sleep and stress.

Silent migraine treatments: Rest is the effective and suitable treatment for moderate and mild silent migraine form. While medications are the effective for severe one such as the beta agonist inhalant, beta blockers and aspirin.
